Our next Broward Emerging Church Meetup will be on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 6:45 p.m. at Laura’s Cuban Restaurant in Hollywood. You can RSVP, get directions and more details here
Matthew will share his story of what led him to the Emerging Church (EC) conversation. And we will discuss postmodernism and how EC deals with absolute truth. Here And here’s a good “conversation” on postmodernism in Christianity Today The Antimoderns - Six postmodern Christians discuss the possibilities and limits of postmodernism. And a shorter, interesting sidebar by Andy Crouch: What Exactly Is Postmodernism? And maybe saving the best (McLaren) for last (with a critique) Emergent Evangelism - The place of absolute truths in a postmodern world—two views. by Brian McLaren and Duane Litfin Finally, don’t forget Rob Bell at Revolution Live in Ft. Lauderdale this Sunday night, hosted by Epic. Additional details are here Rob Bell - NOOMA - at Revolution Li… and below: Just 4 days until the NOOMA Premiere of "Corner" with special guest Rob Bell at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale. Here's an update on what's happening that night and details on parking, driving directions, etc. Doors open at 5:30pm on Sunday evening with live music beginning at 5:45. Make sure you fill out a registration card when you arrive so you can be entered into the drawings that evening for great give-aways, including an exclusive edition NOOMA ipod. It's "NOOMA blue" with all 23 NOOMA videos preloaded on it. NOOMA will premiere their new movie "Corner" and will also show behind the scenes footage sharing with us how the films are made. There will also be a video of "NOOMA stories" detailing how the videos are affecting people's lives. Rob Bell will be speaking live at the event and then open up for a Q&A session with the crowd. It's going to be a great evening! Arrive early: We suggest that you arrive early (5:30pm) if you prefer a seat during the event. Revolution Live is primarily a standing room only concert venue, so seating will be limited to a few hundred in chairs. Arriving early may help you attain a seat on a first-come-first-served basis on the main floor. But with plenty of standing space on the balconies, no one will be turned away from the event. Financial proceeds from the evening will benefit NOOMA: The funds raised through this special event will benefit NOOMA video projects, so your generous contribution that evening is greatly appreciated. Directions to Revolution Live (updated): From I-95, take Broward Boulevard east to a few blocks before Andrews Avenue. Turn right onto SW 3rd Avenue. Revolution Live is on the left, 200 West Broward Boulevard, the big yellow building (it can be seen from Broward Boulevard). Entrance is accessed from SW 3rd Street. Look for the NOOMA blue poster on Broward Boulevard and for volunteers with NOOMA t-shirts to help find the venue. Parking: As with all downtown businesses, parking is either metered or in paid lots. The parking lot on the north side of Revolution Live will be available for $3 per car for the evening. Bring some cash with you to pay for parking. Other lots ranging from $5 - $10 are located near the Museum of Science and Discovery, Las Olas Riverfront parking garage, and along SW 4th through SW 2nd Avenues. Invite a friend: Make sure to tell others about the event and bring them along!! See you on Sunday night!!! Edited by Steve on Mar 18, 2009 11:00 PM |
