Emergent Church Meetup
|
Gather with other locals to discuss about new ways for the Church to be effective in a post-modern and post- Christian world and possibly take part in a local new church start up called the Corridor that will continue to explore these possibilities. The Corridor seeks to be a community of people that are committed to figuring out together what it means to be followers of Jesus in the world today. Geographically speaking we would be made up of people that live, work and play in the corridor between Washington DC and Baltimore. We would see ourselves as a community of disciples that aim to live out our faith in the context of our everyday lives and culture. Our desire is to have a catholic spirit that explores and soaks in the depth, breadth, and life of the church universal. We would value authentic relationships, and missional living, and we gather together for dynamic and creative worship and narrative teaching that will help us learn to contextually live out what it means to be sent into the world. Some Books that might give you a better idea of the kind of things we are thinking would be "Velvet Elvis" by Rob Bell and "Everything Must Change" by Brian McLaren
